How do you deal with a crying baby?

Dr Schaefer believes that crying is a normal part of infancy, and discusses the best way for parents to deal with it. Holding the baby when he cries is a good idea, but breast or bottle should not be offered unless the baby is hungry. Pacifiers and love objects are also effective.
