Identifying the etiologies of physiologically-based mood disorders and their related clinical implications
Article Abstract:
Certain physiological disorders can cause mood disorders and often remain unrecognized as the source for the psychological complaint. Therapists need to be able to recognize symptoms of the following physiological disorders: thyroid malfunction, food sensitivities or allergies, hypoglycemia, Seasonal Affective Disorder, irregular circadian rhythm, Premenstrual Syndrome and atypical systemic Candidiasis. The first three do have laboratory tests that can confirm a physiological diagnosis while the others must be diagnosed based on client medical history, timing of symptoms and genetic history.
