Allergies in infants are not as common as people think they are, and often occur in children with allergic families. Three types of allergies that can affect babies are discussed: food, respiratory and skin allergies. Symptoms, types of allergens and age at onset are also discussed.

Allergies in babies usually effect the skin, intestines or lungs. Food allergies are somewhat common in the first year and can be treated with food substitutes. Asthma, which usually surfaces in the toddler years, is linked to inhaling allergens. Eczema causes a red, itchy rash.

It's cold and flu season
Article Abstract:
Treating a cold in infants involves giving liquids, suctioning mucus from the nose and keeping the air cool inside. Parents should also take temperatures and watch for flu symptoms such as high fever and chills. Treatment and symptoms of croup and Reyes syndrome is discussed.
