Job satisfaction and intended turnover in the large CPA firm: differences by tenure, education, and sex

Article Abstract:

Intended turnover rates and job satisfaction levels at CPA firms are examined. Eleven dimensions of job satisfaction are measured by job tenure, education, and sex. Results indicate that intended turnover rates are related to job tenure, but not to education or sex. Employees with bachelor degrees tend to be more satisfied with promotion policies and office support than employees with graduate degrees. Employees with graduate degrees tend to be happier with compensation. Women are less satisfied than men with advancement opportunities and the way in which promotions are given.

The impact of sex-role characteristics on the job satisfaction and success of women CPAs

Article Abstract:

In the accounting profession, the femininity and masculinity sex roles were conceptualized as the exact opposites of one continuum; consequently the person must either be feminine or masculine, though not both. The dichotomy of sex roles will hide the potential hypothesis: that many individuals could be androgynous and that the intensely sex-typed persons could be restricted in their behavioral options. The Bem Sex-Role Inventory covers femininity, masculinity, and the neutral status.
