The debate as to whether the US can support two professional women's basketball leagues is still being waged although the corporate and fan support seems strong and steady. The pros and cons of having two leagues, an evaluation of each league, and projections for the future, are presented.

Women athletes are winning lucrative endorsement contracts as public interest in women's sports increases. The 1996 Olympics and the advent of women's professional sports leagues are factors in the marketability of women athletes. There is still a financial gender gap.
