Shadow of the moon
Article Abstract:
The sun and the moon aligns every one or two years in such a way that the moon casts a shadow on the earth that moves from west to east at a pace two or three times faster than the speed of light. A total solar eclipse does not last very long, but it still provides a wealth of information about the sun's atmosphere. For instance, the 44-second totality observed in India in 1995 yielded data that would enable scientists to conduct further studies on the mechanisms of energy transfer from the surface of the sun to the corona.
