Canada has the second highest child poverty rate among industrialized nations. Community participation plays a significant role in developing solutions to this problem. London's Kids Count program is one attempt to improve the chances of children to grow up in better socioeconomic conditions.

Self-catered European holidays are attracting more Canadians. Rental units are all self-contained, more private and have more features and room than most European hotel units. They are much cheaper, especially with regards to meals, and are convenient for families with young children.

The sun's harmful effects on the skin are well-documented and cosmetic companies are marketing new self-tanning products to answer consumers' needs for acquiring a tan without the sun. However, consumers must still be careful to choose the product that would suit their skin type.
