Lesbian rights: From legislation to action

Article Abstract:

The NOW activists would respond against the legislation as the legislation is moving on Capitol Hill to write discrimination into America's Constitution in 2006. NOW activists would be sending e-mail messages to members of the Senate, making visits to senators in their district officers and coming to Washington D.C. to share NOW's message that a woman's right to independence and self-determination includes the right to define and express her own sexuality and to choose her own lifestyle, free from discrimination and harassment.

Women join call for peace at March in New York City

Article Abstract:

NOW activists from New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C. Connecticut and Rhode Island and even Florida and Washington State joined by 350,000 protestors organized a peace march in New York City on April 29, 2006 to demand an end to the war and a change in America's priorities. The successful March for Peace, Justice and Democracy was historic effort to mobilize the feminist and progressive communities for change.

Ideology trumps science in ongoing FDA stall of plan B

Article Abstract:

FDA is delaying the decision regarding the over-the-counter (OTC) access to emergency contraception, whose commercial name is Plan B, also known as the morning-after pill. It has become clear that the FDA's failure to allow OTC access is due to politics rather than science.
