Love Your Body Day reaches thousands

Article Abstract:

The annual Love Your Body Day and its celebration for the second year by the National Organization for Women's (NOW's) NOW Fdtn. are discussed. The celebration reached thousands as activists across the US held rallies and took other action to protest unhealthy attitudes toward the female body fostered by various forces in society. The organization has held a poster contest and worked to raise awareness at the traveling Lilith Fair festival and concert.

NOW names Detroit Edison "Merchant of Shame."(National Organization for Women)

Article Abstract:

The National Organization for Women (NOW) activity related to its naming of the Michigan electrical utility Detroit Edison to its "Merchant of Shame" list is discussed. A class-action lawsuit has been brought against the company for sexual harassment and race, sex and age discrimination. NOW has launched an effort to pressure the company to improve conditions for employees at power plant facilities.
