Making financial decisions after a spouse dies
Article Abstract:
There are four ways surviving spouses can take before making financial decisions. One is to make a complete inventory of all assets. Second is to make representation to companies or people holding the assets for any paper or legal requirements to have the funds released. Getting in touch with the lawyer is also needed to know of a will to read or of the legal rights the surviving spouse has in the absence of a will. The services of financial adviser could also be needed to handle the assets as well as the income- and estate-tax issues that can be encountered.

Article Abstract:
Individuals can save themselves and their families from the problem of dividing assets after death by planning ahead and making lifetime distributions of their wealth while still living. The practice can deter individuals from challenging their wills and ensure fair distribution of assets such as jewelry. The method can also provide more financially in terms of lesser estate taxes and the satisfaction of witnessing family members enjoy the gifts.
