March to demand full domestic violence funding
Article Abstract:
The National Organization for Women (NOW) hopes to pressurize the Congress for proper funding of programs promised by the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) at the Fight to Right March. The Congress proposal for a drastic cut in 1996 funds for VAWA programs may force many women and children to continue living in violent homes. Fifty percent of the women who run away due to domestic violence spend their lives in homeless shelters. NOW is looking for legislative packages to deal with problems that VAWA fails to take care of, and trying to raise funds for the programs.

March to Fight the Right's hate NOW
Article Abstract:
The Fight the Right March, organized by the National Organization for Women, is a protest against the ever growing discriminations against and attacks on women, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and people of color. The discriminations prevent an improvement in economic conditions, and a combined effort to fight them is the only solution. The march is aimed at the radical right leaders, who try to make people forget their common history and roots and impose bans without proper reasons.

New year, new Congress: political clashes imminent after feminist breakthroughs, losses in '96 elections
Article Abstract:
The National Organization for Women (NOW) considers the 1996 elections as a big victory for women's agenda. All of the NOW-supported feminist candidates, including Pres Clinton, the first woman governor of New Hampshire and first Louisiana woman senator, won in the elections. However, the 105th Congress is still largely made up of conservatives, which could pose a threat for NOW initiatives such as abortion rights and affirmative action.
