Maryland legislators stand up to Wal-Mart

The Maryland general assembly passed a bill on January 12, 2006, that requires private companies like retail behemoth Wal-Mart to spend at least eight percent of their payroll on healthcare for employees. Wal-Mart is currently the only employer in the state affected by the legislation as the law applies to any private company which employs at least 10,000 state residents.

Poverty reduction must include reproductive health options
Article Abstract:
The march for women's lives on April 25, 2004, was attended by millions of people for demanding public access to family planning and reproductive health care that can women to escape poverty and survive. According to them, an access to full range of reproductive health services is a must for the upliftment of women worldwide from poverty.
