The Canadian government adopted a proactive legislation in 1995, giving in to demands by the female workforce for pay equity. Only Ontario has sought to abolish wage discrimination in the private sector, while provinces outside Quebec honor pay equity only in federally-regulated companies.

Women were first admitted into the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) in 1980. Although many feel that Canada's Armed Forces remains hostile to women recruits, significant developments both at the RMC and the army signal positive changes for women in the Canadian military.

Antisexual harassment programs have been implemented in some Canadian elementary schools. Advocates believe that these programs can prevent sexual harassment problems later in life and teach children that they do not have to put up with unwanted sexual behaviors.
