NOW foundation steps up women's health project

The National Organization for Women (NOW) Foundation intensifies its campaign against life-threatening advertising with the launch of the Redefining Liberation program. The first phase of the project includes distribution of video tapes which aim to inform women, particularly the youth, about the potential hazards of tobacco and cigarette smoking. The campaign further seeks to discourage young girls from imitating fashion models who promote tobacco products.

The National Organization for Women (NOW) has launched a campaign labeled 'Redefining Liberation: Does Advertising Affects Your Health?' This campaign aims to reveal the recruiting tactics that have been employed by tobacco and alcohol manufacturers to attract women and girls to patronize their products. The campaign is featured a 22-minute videos that was directed by California NOW's Elizabeth Toledo.
