NIH officials acknowledge intentional radiation contamination of woman researcher and her fetus
Article Abstract:
The National Institutes of Health has acknowledged that the radiation contamination of scientist Maryann Weli Ma and her 17-week-old fetus was intentional to induce the abortion of the baby. In statements filed to the court, Ma and her husband Bill Wenling Zheng said that their laboratory and project supervisor John N. Weinstein had already suggested Ma to get an abortion because her pregnancy would delay their project, which is to develop a patent for cancer treatment. Medical examination showed that Ma was exposed to about 9.2 rems while the fetus received 6.4 rems, a dosage 12 times higher than what is considered safe for a pregnant woman.

NOW activists support welfare march on U.N
Article Abstract:
Members of the National Organization for Women joined a protest march organized by the Kensington Welfare Rights Union against welfare reform laws. A total of 75 people from low income, homeless and working class groups marched for ten days from the Liberty Bell monument in Philadelphia, PA, to the UN headquarters in New York, NY. The marchers believed that their action would yield international attention to the plight of welfare recipients who are barred from joining trade-unions and who are used as low-wage substitutes for union members.
