NOW activists sighted in Memphis
Article Abstract:
The 1997 National Organization for Women (NOW) Conference will be held at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN, from July 4-6. Representative Cynthia McKinney, who is a strong supporter of women's right, has been invited as keynote speaker. Women activists who will attend the conference can join as many as 40 workshops that will discuss important issues and skills on feminism. A Saturday night conference entertainment was also arranged by the organizers of the 1997 NOW national conference.

The voices of marching activists call for real answers to poverty
Article Abstract:
A month-long march covering 400 miles marked the launch of a campaign to eliminate economic disparity, an effort coordinated by 35 social organizations across the Americas. Issues targeted by the march, which began Oct 1, 1999, include living wages, fair working conditions and quality education.
