National Organization for Women Vice-President-Membership Karen Johnson raised concerns over the increasing number of sexual offenses committed against women in military service. Johnson urged high-ranking military officials to conduct an in-depth investigation on each of the cases filed by women victims. NOW calls for end to war on poor women
Article Abstract:
The Up and Out of Poverty National Organization for Women Coalition is lobbying against the passage of a bill which aims to reduce federal spending for poor women and children by about $65 billion over a period of five years. The coalition contends that the bill, also known as the Personal Responsibility Act, will eliminate the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program along with pre-natal and infant nutrition, food stamps and Supplemental Security Income programs.

NOW continues to fight the war on poor women and their children
Article Abstract:
The National Organization for Women demanded that economic attacks on women be stopped. They asked the Senate Finance Committee to continue their Aid to Families with Dependent Children. A number of welfare proposals were under consideration in the Congress but none of them point to the real causes of poverty. Changes in the economic structure and education policy and equal pay for men and women are the other issues which need to be addressed.
