NOW launches women-friendly workplace campaign

Article Abstract:

The National Organization for Women has launched a campaign that will fight employment discrimination against women on Mar 8, 1997. Labeled as the Women-Friendly Workplace Campaign, it aims to provide women with safe workplaces that are free from sexual assault and sex and race discrimination. The campaign also urges the private sector to formulate family-friendly policies that will benefit all workers.

Who's leading Congress? The poster boys of the Christian Coalition and other ultra-conservative groups

Article Abstract:

NOW Exec VP Kim Gandy says the 106th US Congress will be hostile to women's rights and issues. Gandy says the failure by Republican Congressional leaders to remove Clinton from office will spur them to attack other liberal issues to mollify their Christian Coalition base. The officials Gandy is referring to include Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) and House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL).

Conference forges bold equality amendment strategy

Article Abstract:

A large number of participants in the National Organization for Women's (NOW) conference voted for a pro-women's rights constitutional amendment. Hopefully, the amendment would address the problem of sex discrimination. NOW has started a campaign demanding constitutional equality for women. Other agendas discussed in the meeting are presented.
