NOW members call for FDA approval of Mifepristone (RU-486) for abortion, cancer and other treatments

This article discusses the National Organization for Women (NOW)'s lobbying efforts for the quick and unrestricted approval of mifepristone (RU-486) by the Food and Drug Administration. The anti-progesterone drug blocks hormones needed to maintain pregnancy and provides a safe and effective alternative to surgical abortions and can also be used to treat Cushings Syndrome, menegiomas and breast cancer when used with tamoxifen; it is used effectively in 14 other countries but is opposed by anti-abortionists in the United States.

NOW, Nadler unite against 'honor killing'

This article discusses a resolution developed by the National Organization for Women (NOW) and Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York that would call for the inclusion of honor-crimes in the State Department's annual report on human rights. NOW advocates for more diverse representation in U.S. government
Article Abstract:
The National Organization of Women is advocating that the United States move to an proportional representation system that would create more diversity in federal, state and local governments. The system would call for larger districts with multiple representatives that would include multiple winners in each race.
