A study has shown that high levels of chromium picolinate caused chromosome damage in the DNA of hamster ovary cells. Since no conclusive report has yet been made on the effect of chromium picolinate on humans, consumers are advised to gauge their nutritional needs before taking any drug supplement.

Victims of food rut, the tendency to eat the same food everyday for fear of gaining weight, can overcome the problem by eating a variety of foods that have the same or more nutritional value. Studies show that eating the fewest varieties of foods can cause heart disease, cancer and other diseases.

What your doctor doesn't know about nutrition
Article Abstract:
Doctors may know less than patients about nutrition as a force in preventative medicine. Medical schools do not focus on nutrition courses, although 50% of the top ten diseases are related to what people eat. It is up to the public to learn about nutrition.
