Perceived gender differences in policing: the impact of gendered perception of officer-situation "fit"
Article Abstract:
This study investigates the relationship between gender stereotypes and public perceptions of police conduct while responding to domestic violence, shoplifting, or noise disturbance calls. Findings indicate that perceptions of professionalism are significantly influenced by the relationship between the gender of the responding officer and the nature of the crime.
