Pituitaried off: stress, a poor diet or too much exercise can cause a thyroid imbalance

Strenuous exercise can affect the pituitary or thyroid gland and cause a disease called hypothyroidism. Stress and poor nutrition can also trigger the condition, which most often affects women in their late 20s through early 40s.
