When fire threatens the house it is not photo albums, jewelry or any other materialistic thing that is of any value. The most valuable thing in a house is the life that inhibits it and the first thing to do at that time is to grab your family and the car keys and drive as fast as you can.

An organ-donor card can save many lives, yet signing it is a most difficult thing to do. The hesitation to donate vital organs or parts of the body upon death may be due to the profound concern with what happens to one's body after death, given the worship of the body in today's society.

I donated my kidney to a stranger

The motivation for and experience of donating a kidney to a stranger are recalled. The urgent need for kidney donors, the high mortality rate amongst kidney dialysis patients and the preparation for and aftermath of the operation are described.
