Putting the squeeze on juice

Fruit juices can impact an infant's growth, cause diarrhea and tooth decay. It should not replace mother's milk, or formula. The sugar sorbitol in apple, pear, peach, cheery and plum juices causes stomach problems. Give no juice to infants for the first six months. After 13 months give no more than eight oz daily.

Parents should give their baby sponge baths until the stump of the umbilical cord falls off. Babies need baths about two or three times a week. Some infants may have red splotches, blisters, pimples or jaundice.
