Pyramid power
Article Abstract:
There are now several pyramid guides to the basic food groups, but each has different guidelines. The USDA guide allows a 2-3 servings of red meat, but the Mediterranean and Asian guides only recommend it a few times per month. All of the pyramids recommend large amounts of fruits, vegetables and grains.

Four participants in Shape magazine's Friends in Fitness program, Melissa Eastep, Marni Schroeder, Jalon Smith, and Barbara J. Shannon, were chosen to spend a week at Skylonda Retreat in California. The pen pals, who had supported one another by mail, met for the first time at the retreat.
