The President of the National Organization for Women (NOW) Patricia Ireland, is apprehensive about the growing violence by anti-abortion terrorists. They have perpetrated more than 1730 violent acts in various states. Anti-abortion state legislators are attempting with some success to pass restrictive state legislation. At the national level, House Republicans passed a bill banning abortion at overseas military hospitals. Anti-abortionists' disinformation campaign is also very active.

Article Abstract:
Anti-abortion activists in San Diego, CA, who are using dirty tactics to harass clinic defenders and prevent patients from entering abortion clinics stand to face stiffer criminal penalties with the imposition of new rules aimed at ending anti-abortion violence. These rules, which also call for large fines for such crimes, are forcing many anti-abortion activists to refrain from using violence to emphasize their anti-abortion views.

FDA approval of mifepristone immediately targeted

The Food and Drug Administration approve the abortion drug mifepristone, once known as RU-486, for use in the United States on September 29, 2000 and anti-abortion activists and politicians immediately starting looking for ways to restrict its use. Pro-choice groups are preparing to fight back.
