Report of the joint committee to study the woman CPA

Article Abstract:

A joint committee was established in 1986 to review the content and financial status of The Woman CPA (periodical). The committee's tasks included: defining the magazine's purpose, editorial policy, and financial objective; establishing recommendations on how the publication could meet its financial objective; and reviewing its cover. The committee divided the investigation into four sections: content, appearance, management, and financing. Recommendations from the study include: appointing two directors, one each from the American Woman's Society of CPAs (AWSCPA) and the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA), to serve as members of the Joint Executive Committee (JEC); appointing the magazine's editor by the two organizations' presidents; and delegating review and approval of the publication's annual budget to the JEC.

Positioning women as full partners

Article Abstract:

The Washington Post columnist Judy Mann believes that women should change the attitudes of society so that they can become equal with men in terms of both opportunities and salaries. Women should use the media to express their opinions about sexism in society. Women should also ensure that men recognize the advantages of giving women equal pay. Both men's and women's salaries are being depressed by the two-tier salary system. Many changes have been made in the way in which society treats women, and women should continue to promote change until they become equal with men.
