Reproductive rights status report: outlook negative

Article Abstract:

Congress is considering several pieces of legislation that would endanger a women's reproductive rights. Bills have been introduced that would allow insurance companies not to cover contraceptives, place restrictions on the abortion drug mifepristone, forbid schools from giving out contraceptives and give unborn children full civil rights protection.

Erosion of reproductive rights in States gains speed

Article Abstract:

The state legislature of Texas has implemented a new requirement of performing abortions in hospitals or ambulatory surgery contenders in cases of pregnancy beyond 16th week. Also it requires the abortion providers photocopy, the patient's driver's license or other personal identification and that all these documents should be recorded.

Fathers Count bill to fund men's custody movement

Article Abstract:

An analysis is presented on the 1999 Fathers Count Act, which would fund social services for absentee fathers. Arguments against the Act include the greater need for funding programs that serve custodial parents and enforce child support laws.
