An examination of health statistics have lead researchers to reevaluate the role of excess calories on weight gain. Statistics show that many Americans continue to gain weight, despite their preoccupation with fat-free foods, due to excess calories from carbohydrates which they take in huge amounts.

Animal, vegetable, minimal?

People seem to be concerned about fat in the diet, but statistics indicate that average weight in the US is increasing and that Americans obtain about 36% of calories from fat. Part of the problem may be a result of confusing issues, such as the butter vs margarine controversy.
