An introduction to dollar unit sampling: a modern, easy, efficient technique
Article Abstract:
Dollar unit sampling (DUS) is a statistical sampling technique that is efficient and easy to use; in addition, it offers several unique advantages over other sampling methods. Principle differences between DUS and other sampling methods are: the definition of sampling units as individual dollar units rather than as physical items, the use of tainting factors in evaluating the results, and the formal inclusion of materiality for the population being tested. How to implement DUS, evaluate the results, and determine when DUS is most appropriately applied is discussed.

She shoots, she scores!
Article Abstract:
Linda Byars Swindling sought the help of business coach Elaine Weeman of Partners in Management of Irving, TX, in Jan 1996 to identify her strengths and weaknesses. Swindling, who was employed at Withrow, Schraeder & Swindling in Carrollton, TX, found, with the help of Weeman, that she was not monitoring income and expenses, was not operating paper flow effectively and her secretary was not doing her duties. With the help of Weeman, a game plan helped Swindling double her earnings in just one year, nearly five months ahead of the deadline.
