Phenylketonuria, hypothyroidism and galactosemia tests on newborns are required in all 50 states. Additional screening tests required in select states are sickle-cell anemia, cystic fibrosis and congenital adrenal hyperplasia. The diseases all require immediate therapy after diagnosis.
