Soldiers who work together should train together

Article Abstract:

The Federal Advisory Committee on Gender-Integrated Training has filed a recommendation urging for the separation of women training camps from those of men's. The recommendation was filed after a woman military personnel was sexually offended by her superior in Aberdeen, MD. The proposal is not likely to remedy the problem, since majority of sexual offences do not occur during training. In fact, most sexual-related cases are linked with lack of leadership, inadequate supervision and deviant criminal behavior.

The day the music died: women in Aghanistan

Article Abstract:

Human rights violations among women have been rampant in Afghanistan since the takeover of the Taliban Islamic military government in Sep 1996. The militia, who view themselves as a sacred army, does not only deprive women of education, but forbid them to work and stroll along streets unaccompanied. Those who go out with heels and ankles exposed undergo severe physical abuse. Top officials at the National Organization for Women (NOW) are currently waging efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Afghan women.
