Stalking the silent killer: research gives hope in the fight against ovarian cancer

Article Abstract:

Some 2,200 Canadian women are afflicted with ovarian cancer annually, but doctors find it hard to diagnose this 'silent killer' during its early stages. However, new discoveries in prevention, detection and treatment are expected to facilitate diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer.

Kava-kava, an herbal substance from the root of a pepper plant, is believed to relieve stress and anxiety and has a calming effect. Initial studies have discovered that kavalactones in kava-kava help reduce nervous tension, heart palpitations, chest pains and headaches.
