A 34-year-old woman recounts her experiences participating in a military-style fitness program in Marin County, CA, called Hit The Hill. The activities the group engaged in included carrying logs uphill, doing pushups while carrying a backpack and climbing steep hillsides.

Getting back into her shell: Aerial Gilbert rows by feel - guided by scent, sound and a reservoir of memories

Aerial Gilbert, 40, became blind in 1989, after she was exposed to lye-tainted eyedrops. She was a college rower, and continues to enjoy the sport of open-water rowing despite her disability. She frequently rows in the San Francisco, CA, Bay, accompanied by another rower.
