Idaho's Cascade Raft Company employs about 50% women guides, which is unusual for a sport still dominated by men. Many women rafting guides say they still feel pressure to be better than than men, but attitudes are slowly changing. Some of the guides work at ski resorts during the winter.

Honeymoon in Tibet

A former ski racer describes a trip she took with her new husband to climb 23,355 ft Gurla Mandhata peak in Tibet. The two entered the country surreptitiously and traveled light. She got close to the top, but had to turn back because of altitude sickness. Her husband made the summit.
