Article Abstract:
The Columbine High School shooting tragedy exposes a need for feminists and National Organization for Women members to continue advocating for a change in a culture where violence reigns. Advocating for a change in culture violence needs to be undertaken with heart, soul, hands and mind in order to prevent the Columbine tragedy from ever happening again. Iroquois women inspire 19th century feminists
Article Abstract:
The women of Iroquois nations served as inspiration to 19th century feminists such as Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. A visit by Mott in Seneca, one of the six Iroquois nations, in the summer of 1848 revealed that Senecan women have equal responsibilities with men in all aspects of their lives. Such revelation inspired Mott to take the initiative in organizing the first women's rights convention which was held in Seneca Falls, NY.
