Caffeine, a substance found naturally in coffee, tea, cola and chocolate, is the most commonly used drug in the world. It is often used to induce alertness and is sometimes added to over-the-counter medicines. However, caffeine can cause harmful side effects including stomach ulcers and insomnia.
