An increasing number of women are adopting information technology and paving the way for other women in the previously male-dominated world of computers and cyberspace. Women Internet users have grown from only 10% in 1993 to an estimated 40% to 49% in 1996, aside from becoming big buyers of technology.

A woman who developed an aversion for sports in high school rediscovered her competitive spirit when she learned to play tennis. Her aversion to physical education class in high school stemmed from the fact that she did not like her personal failure to affect her whole team's chances of winning.
