A working mother describes some encounters with people who have outmoded ideas about a woman's role. They include a car salesman who wanted to deal with her husband, a doctor who blamed a diaper rash on child care and a teacher who wanted parents to sew complicated costumes for a school pageant.

A new mother of a four-month-old son describes her first interview after giving birth. She had worried about finding clothes that fit, but forgot to prepare for interview questions. Despite an ill-fitting belt and unprepared responses, she got the adjunct teaching position.
