Canyon country trek guides from Red Rocks 'n LLamas lead trips into the 1.7 mil-acre Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Utah. The four to five-day trips, which cost between $500 and $575 including gear, local transportation and meals, makes use of llamas to carry hikers' belongings.

On the trail of the turtles

Culebra Island is located in the Caribbean near Puerto Rico. The island and surrounding archipelago is a wildlife refuge. Leatherback turtles use the area as an place to lay eggs. There is no tourist development on the island, but kayaking is good and wildlife viewing is excellent.
