The pregnant pause: must women athletes choose between fitness and pregnancy?
Article Abstract:
Research on the physical limits of pregnant women has not been done, and women athletes receive a range of advice on exercise from their doctors. Research has found that exercise during pregnancy has benefits and that fit women who exercised vigorously early in pregnancy have no greater rate of miscarriages.

Narrowing the gap
Article Abstract:
Women have successfully competed with men in endurance events such as long-distance running and swimming. Ann Trason placed third in the 1992 Western States Endurance Run, and women won the top three places in the 1988 Manhattan Island Marathon Swim.

The endurance edge: can women close the gender gap?
Article Abstract:
Men are generally stronger than women but that does not give them an advantage in sports where the most importance factor is endurance. Women are closing the gender gap in such areas as endurance runs, sled dog races and marathon swimming.
