The pros & cons of prenatal testing

Article Abstract:

The decision to undergo prenatal diagnosis should be made by pregnant women and their partners following a consultation with a doctor. Talks with a genetic counselor or a religious advisor will also help couples decide. Some circumstances that determine the need for prenatal tests are presented.

Pregnant women should keep their prenatal appointments and should watch out for possible complications in their second or third trimester. These problems can include placental abruption, placenta previa, premature rapture of the membranes and cervical incompetence.
