Parents should prepare for the financial needs of their child's education even at the child's young age. A college plan should factor in the tax savings available as well as the length of time needed to accrue as large an amount as possible. Money can be saved through investments in stocks or mutual funds.

Needed now: pension reform!

Working mothers have less opportunities to plan financially for retirement than men. Women suffer from pay inequities, are more likely to switch jobs, work for small companies and live longer than men. Pending legislation is designed to alleviate pension inequities.
