"Top ten business women of ABWA."

Article Abstract:

The ten women cited by the American Business Women's Assn (ABWA) for outstanding achievements for 1998 were unanimous in their praise of the value of networking. Veterinarian Lorain Abel established her own veterinary hospital in Grants Pass, OR, through networking with other members of the ABWA. Victoria Braden attributes the growth of her employee benefits services in Georgia to networking. Sharon Burns revealed that networking helped her to attain the position of assistant comptroller and manager at Kansas City Life Insurance Co.

A touch of opportunity

Article Abstract:

Wagoner Therapeutic Massage Center owner Cynthia Wagoner's active participation in the American Business Women's Assn.'s Raleigh Triangle Chapter enhanced her organizational skills. The flexibility and skills she learned from being the chapter's program chairman helped her in customer relations and in setting sound financial policies. Wagoner's experiences in the chapter also assisted her in acquiring licenses for her American Massage Therapy Assn. co-members.

Business skills I learned through ABWA: aloha to leadership

Article Abstract:

Aloha Festivals pres. Tina Kaneshiro is a member of the American Business Women's Assn. (ABWA), Punahele Chapter in Honolulu, HI. She credits her organizational skills that make the Aloha Festivals events successful to ABWA. Kaneshiro also chairs the fund-raising, program and publicity executive committee. The Aloha Festivals is a month-long, state-wide celebration of Hawaii's history and cultural heritage that starts on Sep. 13.
