Tough enough: Christine Lahti plays a strong woman on 'Chicago Hope' - and it's no act

Lahti believes that she is not as self-destructive as Dr Kathryn Austin, whom she portrays on 'Chicago Hope.' Lahti, who is married to the show's director, Thomas Schlamme, won the role after Mandy Patinkin left the series. She is happy being both an actress and a mother of three.
