All in a day's work

Article Abstract:

A wide range of issues will be covered at the fourth Nursing Times/Health Service Journal National Conference on Professional and Managerial Issues in Day Surgery, which will take place in London, England, on Mar 25, 1998, and Mar 26, 1998. These will include the opportunity for day surgery nurses to become multiskilled, the shift towards undertaking more complex procedures, such as laparoscopic cholecystectomies, in day surgery units and the role of day surgery in the modern National Health Service. There will be conference sessions on subjects including the rise of the nurse practitioner.

Roly Wason

Article Abstract:

Archaeologist, lens grinder, bus driver and writer Roly Wason studied Latin, Greek and Ancient History at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, England. He became Professor of Archaeology at the University of Toronto, Canada, and Keeper of Near Eastern Antiquities at the Royal Ontario Museum, but also travelled extensively. Even after his retirement, he travelled overland to Nepal and Bangladesh, as well as to the central Asian states of the then Soviet Union. He became Organizer for the County of Argyll Labour Party in 1938, and then worked as a lens grinder.
