Turning diversity into opportunity

Article Abstract:

American Business Women's Assn. (ABWA) Pres. Cathy Butler claims that her organization is a highly diverse one. It is composed of women from a wide variety of professions who share business knowledge and experiences with one another. The association helps its members by providing educational opportunities that are suited to their particular needs. ABWA's programs include Prime Connection for businesswomen nearing retirement and Company Connection for women business owners.

Navigating your career path

Article Abstract:

Members of the American Business Women's Assn. (ABWA) can now explore new career directions with the help of the organization's new business-skill grant and loan program. The latest addition to the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund, this program intends to make it possible for ABWA members who want to develop new skills, or to improve the abilities they already have, to receive grants and loans for accredited or state-approved courses.

Finding a career coach

Article Abstract:

American Business Women's Assn. (ABWA) mentors help other members build their confidence and further their careers by pointing out their potential, giving tips and identifying their areas of responsibility. ABWA mentors also assist in providing job leads and moral support. Mentor relationships, however, takes time to develop and is built on commitment, mutual trust, emotional maturity and patient leadership.
