Women athletes should be aware of their vitamin intake. Deficiencies or large quantities can cause health problems. A knowledge of the use of diet and vitamin supplements will help determine the best source of vitamins.

The diets of Olympic swimmer Janet Evans and a recreational woman athlete were analyzed by a sports nutritionist. Increase in carbohydrate intake and adjustment of fat intake were recommended to improve performance.
