Thirty mothers narrate the ways they told their family and friends that they were pregnant. Lisa Maggio of New York used 12 balloons to tell her parents about her pregnancy while Linda Enloe encircled the pregnancy warning labels of the wine bottles she gave to her friend.

Cocaine use by fathers can abnormally affect fetal development. Research has shown that cocaine can be transported by the sperm into the egg. Other toxic chemicals can affect fetal growth.
