A baby is born with many rudimentary intellectual skills that can be fostered by providing an environment that is matched to the child's temperament. A child who is easily aroused should be provided more subtle sights, sounds and human interaction than a child who is not easily aroused.

Helping children learn appropriate behavior requires time, energy and a lot of patience. Discipline must be based upon a healthy relationship between a parent and a child. This relationship can only be built by spending time with the child. Pointers on child discipline are presented.
